Advando expands
An office in North America

"Working worldwide on a future-proof industry."

Arjen Elderson, Chief Executive Officer

Advando expands to North America: "Working worldwide on a future-proof industry."

Advando wants to achieve zero delay in large turnaround projects. A mission that is popular internationally. This also applies to Canadian turnaround specialist Ted Lister. The contact led to a collaboration: Advando is opening an office in North America. And the ambitions do not end there.

No more unnecessary downtime

Advando was founded in 2011 in Terneuzen by Edwin van Doeselaar, now CTO. Arjen Elderson joined the company as CEO in 2020. Clients include global players in the energy and oil & gas sectors.

The mission: achieve zero delay in turnaround projects. Turnarounds or shutdowns are projects in which production environments are shut down for thorough inspection and maintenance. "Over two-thirds of turnarounds take much longer than planned," says Arjen Elderson. "This results in high costs and is bad for the environment. Not only that – it is also unnecessary."

Unique methodology

To achieve zero delay, Advando has developed a unique methodology. It caught the attention of Ted Lister, author of several books on turnarounds and a much sought-after speaker. "Ted had been in good contact with Edwin for years and followed our progress," says Arjen. "He indicated that he had been looking for an approach like ours for a long time. A well-thought-out triple approach: we give advice, supply professionals, and streamline projects with TACS, our project control software."

"With this approach, Ted wants to serve the North American market from Canada. Advando North America is a fact. That's terrific. The first turnaround project is underway: consultancy and implementation for a major asset owner."

The industry of 2050

Ted Lister brings decades of experience to Advando. "He enriches our methodology with his knowledge," says Arjen. "That makes this collaboration special: knowledge meets knowledge. The result is more than the sum of its parts."

Why is Ted a good fit with Advando? "We share a strong drive," says Arjen. "That's not only in preventing unnecessary downtime for our customers but also in developing our field and contributing to future-proof sectors. We want to make a global impact on shaping the industry of 2050 today."
